Hammer For Maine (http://hammerformaine.com/) offers a total of six competitive ten week summer political internships.
This internship allows the individual to gain experience as an important contributing member to a statewide political campaign.
Only six summer political internships will be available. This is to focus the maximum amount of resources on each intern in order to make it the best internship experience possible. Each intern must commit to a minimum of 25 hours per week during the internship. Campaign activities for each intern will be tailored as much as possible to the specific interests of each intern within the context of the needs and activities of the campaign.
Internship campaign activities could include such activities as management and recruitment of volunteers, scheduling and operation of events, voter outreach, research, website and database activities, etc.
Any travel which might be required will be paid for by the campaign.
The focus of the internship is professional and personal growth opportunities for individuals interested in politics. While the internship could be suitable for any individual with a strong political interest, those with previous political campaign experience may be at an advantage for this competitive position.
In order to facilitate these growth opportunities each intern will receive four or more hours of direct supervision per week. This supervision and feedback will build professional skills and provide structure to the internship. In addition, each intern will receive all written materials and instructions required to complete each task.
To apply, the candidate should supply their resume and 1,000 to 1,500 word statement on why they wish to be selected for this position.
